INDIANAPOLIS – The Marian women's tennis team fell 7-0 to No. 19 Campbellsville on Sunday afternoon at the Marian Tennis Courts. The Knights are now 16-6 on the season.
Campbellsville clinched the doubles points after Oriana Espinoza and Miru Nonaka defeated Betija Dusele and Katharina Bopst at No. 1 doubles 6-2, followed by Isadora Muller and Dana Savarino falling 6-3 to Blaeke Mitchell and Candela Converti at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 doubles, Emma Chrome and Josie Yarbrough were tied 5-5 with Ariadna Perez and Clara Asprella.
In singles, Bopst fell 6-2, 6-0 to Nonaka at No. 2 singles before Muller also fell 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot to Espinoza. The Tigers clinched the match after picking up the win at No. 3 singles with Angela Mendoza defeating Chrome 6-3, 6-2. At No. 1 singles, Dusele took Perez to three sets before falling 7-5, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7). Savarino lost 6-4, 6-4 to Mitchell at the No. 5 spot, before Joelle Leihbacher dropped her match 6-4, 6-2 to Asprella at No. 6 singles.
Marian will travel to South Bend on Friday to take on Holy Cross at 7 p.m.
