Savannah, Ga. - The Marian women's tennis team ended their spring break trip on a sour note Wednesday night, falling to No. 3 SCAD-Savannah in a 7-0 shutout. Marian's loss was their lone defeat on their spring break stay in Hilton Head, as they will bring home a record of 14-5 overall.
SCAD swept doubles taking two of the three matches, while leading in the third as the Bees scored the first point of the game.
Isadora Muller and
Dana Savarino lost at No. 2 and
Josie Yarbrough and
Emma Chrome fell at No. 3, with both suffering a 6-3 loss.
Betija Dusele and
Katharina Bopst went unfinished at No. 1 doubles, trailing 5-3 when the point was clinched.Â
Singles play did not aide the Knights, as they managed to pick up a lone set victory over the six courts.
Betija Dusele fell in straight sets by consecutive Alessia Piccoliori at No. 1 singles, and at No. 2 singles Bopst lost to Yue Yu 6-1, 6-1. Chrome fell at No. 3 as she played against Sofia Ragona, losing 6-0, 6-1, and at No. 4 Muller was defeated by F. Puig Llompart 6-2, 6-3.
Savarino had the lone set win for the Knights, winning the first set against Caroline Lewis 6-1, before falling 6-3 and 10-5 to end her day. In No. 6 singles,
Joelle Leihbacher lost against Britain Botsford in 6-2, 6-2 set scores.Â
Marian will return to Indiana and resume their spring schedule on March 15, when they travel to DePauw for a 4:30 p.m. match.Â
