Savannah, Ga. - The Marian men's tennis team fell to SCAD-Savannah on Wednesday night, as the 6-1 defeat ended Marian's play on their spring break trip. Marian ends the week with a 10-7 overall record on the season.
The Knights failed to claim a win in one of the three doubles matches, as the Bees won two of the three to claim the point. Marian's best chance to score a win came at the No. 2 position, with
Jones McNamar and
Ashwin Bhat leading 5-2 before SCAD clinched the point. The duo of
Mark Griffin and Andy Ilett lost 6-0 at No. 1, while
Jake Giles and
Shadi Al Tori lost 6-2 at No. 3.Â
Jones McNamar scored the Knights lone win in singles, as he was able to grind out a win at No. 6 by defeating Carson O'Hara 6-3, 6-0. Marian's closest chance to a victory in the other five matches came from Griffin, as he lost 6-2, 7-6 (4) against Mark Tryakshin. Dmitrii Voschenkov suffered a 6-3, 6-1 loss at No. 2 to Danil Ozernoy, and
Jona Henze fell at No. 3 by a 6-0, 6-2 score against Liam Stoica. Ilett was defeated by Johan Karlsson at No. 4 singles by a count of 6-3, 6-2, and Bhat was defeated by Diego Lopez Cruz in a 6-2, 6-1 match.
Marian will look to snap their losing streak when they next play on March 15, traveling to DePauw University as they resume their schedule.Â
