Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team claim their third sweep of the season in Monday's match against St. Francis (Ind.). The Knights are now 5-2 overall on the year and in the Crossroads League.
In doubles action
James Ashworth and
Tjark Kunkel finished first claiming a win at No. 1 doubles with a final count of 6-1.
Jan Bartolome and
Jones McNamar were next to finish with a win at No. 2 doubles with a score of 6-3 claiming the doubles point for the Knights. At No. 3 doubles Juan Garcia-Tunon and
Marcos Ramos Cabrera claimed the full sweep for Marian winning in final counts of 7-6 and 7-5 in extra sets.Â
Bartolome was the first to finish in singles action at No. 3 with consecutive final counts of 6-0.
Bogdan Precupescu was next to finish at No. 2 singles with final counts of 6-1 anf 6-0.
Marc Soriano increased the Knights lead with a win at No. 1 singles with final counts of 6-2 and 6-1. McNamar was next up to finish sweeping singles No. 6 with consecutive final counts of 6-0. Garcia-Tunon finished next at No. 4 singles with final counts of 6-4 and 6-3. Ramos Caberea finished off the sweep with a win at No. 5 singles with final counts of 6-2 and 6-1.
The Knights are back in action Thursday, September 19th starting their ITA tournament run on the road at Marion, Ind.
