Louisville, Ky. - The Marian women's tennis team suffered their third consecutive defeat on Saturday, as the Knights lost their second match of the spring against Bellarmine University. Marian is 9-4 overall on the season after the 5-0 defeat.
Bellarmine took two of the three doubles matches to gain the first point of the afternoon, as the Kentucky Knights earned wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to go on top 1-0. Nikola Kollaritsch and Reese Parker defeated
Ana Lopez Torres and
Michelle Irigoyen 6-3 on the second court, while Paloma Caceres and
Liliane Alinquant fell to Marika Caruk and Liann Grosso by a 6-1 final.
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez ended their match at No. 1 doubles in an unfinished 5-4 score.
In singles, Bellarmine won four matches to win the match, claiming three of the four wins in three sets. Imamniyazova fought at No. 1 before falling 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, while Irigoyen fell at No. 3 in a 1-6, 6-1, 6-2 match. Barbosa also fell in three sets in her match at No. 4 singles, losing 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (9). Lopez Torres suffered the fourth defeat for Marian, as she lost in straight sets by 6-4 and 6-1 scores.Â
 Alinquant went unfinished in her match at No. 5 after winning set one 6-3, and Caceres went unfinished at No. 6, losing set one 6-2.Â
Marian will continue their challenging start to the spring, taking on Valparaiso on February 16 at 11 a.m.
