Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team fell 6-1 against IU-Indy in Friday's afternoon match up. The Knights now move to a 7-7 overall record on the season.
Juan Garcia-Tunon and
Marcos Ramos Cabrera started off doubles action at No. 2 falling to the Jaguars 6-1.
Jan Bartolome and
Iyan Cresens were the second pair to finish falling 6-1 at No. 3.
James Ashworth and
Jones McNamar went unfinished at No. 1 trailing with a score of 3-2. IU-Indy claimed the doubles point with back-to-back defeats of the Knights.
The Jaguars extended their lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win over
Marc Soriano at No. 1 singles. Garcia-Tunon was able to fight back seccuring Marian a point with his 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles to bring the total score 2-1 in favor of IU-Indy. The Jaguars extended their lead with a 6-2, 6-4 win over McNamar at No. 6. Bartolome was the next to finish falling 7-6 (7), 6-4. IU-Indy continued their lead with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 over Ashworth. Ramos Cabrera was the last to finish falling 6-3, 7-6(4) at No. 5.
The Knights are back in action as they travel to Hilton Head, S.C. for Spring Break to take on Saint Francis University Monday, March 3rd at 11:30 a.m.
