Williamsburg, Ky. - The Marian women's tennis team won their second consecutive match of their spring season on Friday, as the Knights defeated No. 19 Cumberland 4-3. Marian's win gives them a record of 11-7 overall for their 2024-25 season.

The Knights fell behind early on Friday, as they were unsuccessful in doubles with the Patriots winning the first point of the match. Marian's lone win in doubles came from No. 3 pairing Liliane Alinquant and Paloma Caceres Villalba, as they won by a 6-3 count.

In singles, Marian rolled over their competition, taking four victories to win the match. Yasmin Imamniyazova won at No. 1singles, while Ana Lopez Torres won at No. 2 singles as the duo won the first two points in singles. The Patriots would win at No. 3 singles, but at No. 5 singles Alinqunat won 6-2, 7-5 to inch closer to the victory. Marian would fall at No. 6 singles, leaving the match to Ana Barbosa Fernandez at No. 4. Fernandez won 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles to seal the match for Marian, closing out the Knights 4-3 win.
