Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian women's tennis team takes the 6-1 win over (RV) Campbellville on Friday afternoon. The Knights are now 13-7 overall on the 2024-25 campaign.
The Knights opened up doubles action earning the point with
Liliane Alinquant and
Paloma Caceres Villalba started off strong with a quick 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
Ana Barbosa Fernandez and
Yasmin Imamniyazova were quick to follow up with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Michelle Irigoyen and
Ana Lopez Torres went unfinished at No. 2 but held the 6-5 lead.
Irigoyen extended the Knights lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles while Barbosa Fernandez won at No. 4, 6-1, 7-5. Cacares Villalba recorded another point at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 6-3. Imamniyazova put up a hard fight at No. 1 but fell, 6-4, 6-7(1), 1-0(7). Lopez Torres wrapped up the day at No. 2, 7-6(4), 6-4 seccuring Marian's 6-1 win.
Marian will play their final home match of the season on Saturday morning, when the Knights take on Georgetown College for their senior day match. Senior ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m., with the match to follow at 11:00 a.m. Marian and Georgetown will play at Riverside Park.Â
