Mobile, Ala. - The Marian Women's Tennis team's historic postseason run fell short in the Second Round of the NAIA Tournament. The Knights fell to No. 6 Loyola 4-1 to end their 2024-25 campaign.
Marian got off to a great start in doubles with a 6-1 win at court No. 2 by
Michelle Irigoyen and
Ana Lopez Torres. The Wolf Pack fought back with a 6-1 win over
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez, and a 6-3 win over
Liliane Alinquant and
Paloma Caceres Villalba to secure the 1-0 lead over Marian.
Loyola extended their lead to start out doubles with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Barbosa Fernandez at No. 5. Alinquant fought back with her 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 6 bringing the score 2-1 in favor of the Wolf Pack. Loyola capped off their win with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Irigoyen and a 7-5, 6-4 win over Caceres Villalba.
Lopez Torres went unfinished at No. 2 but held the 7-6 (2), 5-1 lead over her competitor. While, Imamniyazova also went unfinished at No. 1 holding the 6-4, 5-5 lead over her opponent.
The Knights end their 2024-25 season with an overall record of 15-9 and a record of 7-1 in the Crossroads League.
