No. 14 Marian Dominates Field at Northwest Iowa Invitational

Le Mars, Iowa – Winning is a habit early in the 2025 fall season for the Marian men's golf team, as the Knights captured their second victory in as many tournaments as play concluded Tuesday at the Northwest Iowa Invitational. Marian's victory was highlighted by Lane Zedrick's individual runner-up performance, as Zedrick set an 18-hole record in his efforts, shooting a 62 in Monday's second round.

The Knights went 13-0 against a field littered with top competition from around the NAIA, as Marian fired an 826 and finished a dominant 26-under par over 54 holes. The score marks the second-lowest 54-hole total in program history, as the team scored rounds of 276, 271, and 279 on the par-71 Willow Creek Golf Club.

Marian's victory came over five top-10 teams, and five additional teams ranked in the top-25 or receiving votes. Marian defeated MidAmerica Nazarene by three strokes, as the fifth-ranked Pioneers scored an 829. No. 2 Oklahoma City finished third with an 834, and No. 8 Texas Wesleyan finished fourth. The Knights also defeated No. 7 OUAZ, No. 10 Friends, No. 13 Master's, No. 17 Northwestern, No. 19 Lewis-Clark State,  No. 23 Science and Arts, and (RV) Arizona Christian.

Lane Zedrick led the Knights with his 199 score for the three rounds, shooting a 67, 62, and 70 over 54 holes. Zedrick's second round score of 62 set a program record, as he finished nine-under to close Monday. Zedrick led the tournament entering the final round, but a 64 shot by Kolbe Fielder of Texas Wesleyan pushed the Marian junior to the runner-up position.

Weston Ogden's strong start to the fall continued as he finished sixth, finishing with a 205 total for the three rounds. Ogden shot a 68, 70, and 67 in his three rounds of play. Augie Mann earned a top-20 finish with his 211 total, as he scored a 70, 72, and 69, good for two-under overall and two rounds under par. Nolan Potter rounded out the team scoring, as the senior scored a 214 in his tie for 32nd. Potter had round scores of 71, 69, and 74.

Kai Warner competed in his first collegiate tournament as the fifth man on the Knights' roster and finished tied for 39th, scoring a 216 total with round scores of 73, 70, and 73.

Marian will hit the links again next week, traveling to Silvis, Ill., and TPC Deere Run to compete in the annual NAIA Fall Preview.
