INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian women's tennis team began its match play portion of the 2025-26 schedule on Sunday morning, playing Butler to begin their 2026 schedule. The Knights fell against the NCAA DI foe, dropping the match 6-1 to begin the season 0-1.

Michelle Irigoyen earned Marian's lone win in doubles, as they won their matchup against Sophie Parr and Sienna Miles at No. 2 doubles by a 6-4 final score. Butler would win the doubles point after recording wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, taking a 1-0 lead.Â
The Bulldogs would go on to win the first four matches of singles, clinching the match with their four wins at No. 4, No. 2, No. 6, and No. 1.
Ana Lopez Torres was the bright spot for Marian in singles, winning her match at No. 3 singles against Sophie Parr by a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (6) final score. The Bulldogs would finish the match with a win at No. 5 singles, closing down their 6-1 victory.
Marian will play UIndy on Monday morning in an exhibition match that begins at 9:30 a.m., and will then play its next countable match on Sunday, February 1, against Holy Cross College at USTA Midwest.Â
