Men's Bowling Earns Victory at CL Meet Four

Jackson, Mich. - The Marian men's bowling team competed in Jackson, Michigan, on Friday afternoon in the Crossroads League Meet Four, winning its second Crossroads League event of the season. Marian also finished as the runner-up in the league tournament, which was held on Friday in addition to the CL Meet Four.

Marian logged a total of 3054 in the individual team games segment of the day, while in the baker games, the team bowled a 2693, finishing the afternoon with a 5747 total score. The team's score in the team games was the second-highest of the day, but the recovery in baker play allowed the Knights to take a 134-pin victory over Spring Arbor, who finished as the runner-up.

Hayden Fowler was Marian's top bowler on the day, finishing third overall with a score of 670 pins in three games. Fowler's bronze effort was 17 pins shy of a victory and three pins shy of a silver finish. Ryan Carpenter and Max Berche joined Fowler in the top-10, finishing seventh and eighth, respectively. Carpenter had a total of 633, while Berche bowled a total of 621 pins. 

Jacob Neubauer finished 16th individually with a score of 592 pins, and Jordan Bauerle finished 32nd overall with a 538-pin total. 

Following regulation play, Marian was seeded first in the annual Crossroads League Tournament, which takes the top-four teams from the league standings. Marian was seeded first and defeated Huntington 2-0 in the semifinal round, but fell to Spring Arbor 2-1 in the championship round. 

The Knights' top JV lineup won the reserve portion of the meet, bowling 5165 pins on the day. The second JV lineup finished third with a score of 4839 pins. Braydon Book of the JV2 lineup was the top JV bowler, logging a 603 score to finish 11th overall in three games played. Elijah Liming of JV2 bowled a 586 to finish 20th, and Joe Buczynski of JV1 finished 27th with a score of 549.

Marian finishes the Crossroads League season next Wednesday, February 4, when they host Crossroads League Meet Three. The event begins at 8:30 a.m., as Marian will look to hold its lead and secure a bid to the NAIA Championships.
