Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team opened up Crossroads League play with a 7-0 win over the University of Saint Francis on Senior Day. The Knights move to 4-2 overall on the year and 1-0 in conference after the win.
James Ashworth and
Mateo Guerin opened up doubles play with a 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.
Marc Soriano and
Iyan Cresens followed up with a 6-4 win as well at No. 3 doubles.
Marcos Ramos Cabrera and
Jan Bartolome wrapped up the doubles action with a 7-6 (7-1) win after the tiebreaker.
With the Knights in the lead 1-0, Soriano extended the lead with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles. Ashworth was the next to finish with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles. Guerin followed up with a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 2 singles.
Marian extended their 4-0 lead once again with Ramos Cabrera recording the 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles. Juan Garcia-Tunon was the fifth to finish with his 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles, while
Bogdan Precupescu wrapped up the match with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 singles.
Marian will be back in action on Wednesday, February 25th, as they travel to Williamsburg, Kentucky, to take on No. 8 Cumberlands with doubles action starting at 1 PM.
