Shepherdsville, Ky. - The Marian women's golf team completed a dominant team effort on Saturday, winning the Heritage Hills Collegiate Invite by 91 strokes, earning a wire-to-wire tournament victory. The tournament, hosted by Lawrence Tech, saw the Knights put up one of their best performances of the season, and featured a new school record, as
Emma Weiler broke a three-year-old record 54-hole record.
Marian started the tournament by taking a commanding lead on day one, as the team shot a 294 and 288 in the first 36 holes, as their 582 score gave the Knights a lead of over 60 on the field. The Knights continued to build on that lead in the third round on Saturday, firing a 291 to end with a total of 873, putting together their best performance of the short spring season.
Marian won the tournament by 91 strokes as a team, defeating the host Lawrence Tech by an 873-962 difference. Marian was one of just two teams to record a round score under 300, with Olivet doing so in round one.
Individually for Marian, all six golfers finished in the top-six on the leaderboard, the first time this season the Knights have boasted the best six golfers in the field.
Emma Weiler broke Marian's school record for a 54-hole tournament with a 211 score, surpassing the mark previously set by
Hailey Kirkland in her freshman season of 2023-24. Weiler scored a 72 in round one, while ending the opening day two-under par with a 70. The junior finished the tournament five-under overall, firing a three-under 69 in the last 18 holes to complete her 211.
Behind Weiler,
Maria Kennard finished second and one-under par for the tournament, carding a 215 (72+86+75), and
Keara Eder finished third (76+71+73) with a 220 overall score.
Hailey Kirkland and
Addyson Weiler tied for fourth with a score of 230 each, and
Jordan Adam shot a 232 to place sixth individually.
Marian next plays on April 13 and 14 at the annual Music City Classic, where they will look to win their third tournament of the spring and fifth overall for the season.
