Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian women's tennis team shut out Taylor in the CLT Quarterfinals round, winning 5-0 Monday afternoon. With the win, the Knights move to 14-6 overall on the season.
Emma Chrome and
Ana Barbosa Fernandez quickly took the 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles to put the Knights ahead. Michelle Iriogyen and
Jimena Rivera Flores quickly followed up with their 6-1 win at No. 2, taking the point for the Knights. At court No. 1,
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Ana Lopez Torres went unfinished, holding the 3-2 lead over the Trojans.
Opening up singles action
Maggie Bertram extended Marian's lead with a 6-0 and 6-3 win at No. 5 followed by Rivera Flores' quick pair of 6-0 wins at court No. 3. With the Knights in the lead 3-0
Elisa Roccaforte clinched the win with her pair of 6-2 wins at No. 6. While Chrome closed out the day with a pair of 6-1 wins at No. 4. Imamniyazova and Lopez Torres both went unfinished in their singles matches at courts one and two.Â
After the win, the Knights move on to play in the Crossroads League Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday as they take on the winners of the Bethel and Huntington match. Both the semifinals and championship matches will be hosted at Indiana Wesleyan on Wednesday and Friday morning.Â
