Marian Makes Program History With First-Ever Top-4 Finish at NAIA Championship

Silvis, Ill. - After a grueling week of competition, the Marian men's golf team finished off its best performance in program history at the NAIA National Championship, as the Knights gained ground in the final round to finish fourth at the NAIA National Championship. Marian's record-setting finish was headlined by All-Tournament performances from Weston Ogden and Lane Zedrick, who each finished top-15 in the nation.

Lane Zedrick opened the day with eyes on him, as the junior began the fourth round of the national championship in sole possession of first place. Despite a promising opening tee shot, Zedrick failed to capitalize on the first hole and double bogied, starting the round on a sour note. The double took him out of the lead, but a string of seven consecutive pars kept him in contention for the lead. Zedrick would bogey the ninth hole to take a +3 score to the back nine, where the round would manage to slip away from the junior. Three bogies and one double would mar the final round in what had been an overall stellar week, giving Zedrick a 78 on the day to end the tournament +7 with a 287 total.

Zedrick finished the championship tied for 12th overall, earning NAIA Tournament Team honors.

Weston Ogden continued his momentum from his week-best 68 on Thursday, heading into the turn one-over-par at 35 on the day. Ogden would make up for a bogey on the par-three 12th hole with an eagle on hole 17, using the surge to par 18 and end the round at even par, finishing as the Knights' team leader. The senior's final collegiate round brought him to a total of 285 for the week, good for fifth place in the NAIA Championship, bringing him All-Tournament Team honors.

Senior Nolan Potter finished his collegiate career on a high note, owning the golf course on Friday to help Marian stay in a battle as a team. Potter shot one-under-par on the front nine, and managed par on the back nine, ending his day with a tournament-best 69. Potter's score brought his week total down to 21-over par, concluding his collegiate career with a 58th place finish and 301 total score at the NAIA Championship.

Augie Mann finished the tournament with an 11-over 81, bringing his total for the week to +24 at 304. Mann's finish ended his career in 64th at the NAIA Championship.

Brody Holubar finished his season with a 77 in the final round, as the freshman totaled a +29 309 on the week.

As a team, the Knights were 14-over on the final day, with the combination of Potter, Ogden, Holubar, and Zedrick scoring a 294 in the final round. The scores brought the team totals to 1168, keeping Marian in its position of top-five on the leaderboard. Marian's play, coupled with a 296 score in the final round from Lindsey Wilson, allowed Marian to tie the Blue Raiders for fourth place overall, giving Marian its best finish in program history. The Knights fell to as low as sixth in the championship, rebounding to tie for fourth.

The fourth-place trophy is the first for Marian in the sport of men's golf, and second overall in university golf history, joining the women's team's third place finish last season.

Led by a trio of committed seniors, the Marian men's golf team finished the 2026 with five tournament victories, including the team's Crossroads League Championship, and a fourth place finish at the NAIA Championship.
