Le Mars, Iowa —- The 11th-ranked Marian University men's golf team placed in a tie for fifth as a team at the Northwest Iowa National Invite in Le Mars, Iowa this past week. 

Sophomore Drew Werkley was the top Knights finisher on the week, shooting a seven-under 206 across three rounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED

- Werkley fired back-to-back 67s in the first two rounds before a final-round 72 landed him T-8th

- Lane Zedrick also went sub-70 in both of his first two rounds; he carded a 73 in Round 3 to record a T23 finish

- Freshman Ryan Cesare placed third of the Marian golfers, highlighted by a second-round 68; he finished tied for 31st

- Drew Hardin fired a second-round 68 en route to a T46 finish

- Kai Warner placed in a tie for 64th

- The Knights head north to Allendale, Mich. on Oct. 5 and 6 to compete in the Taylor Trojan Invitational on Grand Valley State University's home course
