In his sixth season at the NAIA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships he led 10 events to qualify (2x men's indoor high jump, 2x men's outdoor high jump, men's indoor long jump, men's outdoor long jump, 2x women's indoor high jump, women's outdoor high jump, women's indoor triple jump). While five earned All-American Honors (men's indoor high jump, 2x men's outdoor high jump, men's indoor long jump, women's indoor high jump). He also helped lead the men's team to the NAIA Indoor National Championship.
At both the indoor and outdoor Crossroads League Championships he led 18 events to earn All-Crossroads League Honors (2x men's indoor high jump, 2x men's outdoor high jump, 2x men's indoor long jump, 3x men's outdoor long jump, 2x men's indoor triple jump, 2x men's outdoor triple jump, women's indoor high jump, women's outdoor high jump, women's outdoor long jump, women's indoor triple jump, women's outdoor triple jump). While eight were named individual Crossroads League Champions (men's indoor high jump, men's outdoor high jump, men's indoor long jump, men's outdoor long jump, men's indoor triple jump, men's outdoor triple jump, women's indoor triple jump, women's outdoor triple jump).

Named the USTFCCCA NAIA Great Lakes Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2022-23 season.

One was named an NAIA Individual National Champion (women's triple jump outdoor).

In his second season with the Knights Mikell led seven events to qualify for both the NAIA Indoor and Outdoor National Championships (men's high jump indoor, women's high jump indoor, 2x women's high jump outdoor, women's triple jump indoor, 2x women's triple jump outdoor). While four earned an All-American Honor (women's high jump indoor, women's high jump outdoor, 2x women's triple jump outdoor). One earned an Individual National Championship (women's triple jump outdoor).

Mikell joined the Track and Field staff for the 2019-20 season as the jumps coach. In his first year with the Knights he led five events to qualify for the NAIA Indoor National Championship (men's high jump, men's long jump, 2x women's high jump, women's long jump). At the indoor Crossroads League Championships he led seven events to an All-Crossroads League Honor (men's high jump, 2x women's high jump, 2x women's long jump, 2x women's triple jump). While three were individual Crossroads League Champions (men's high jump, women's long jump, women's triple jump).

After graduating he served as the assistant jumps coach at Indina State University for one year.
Mikell graduated from Indiana State University in 2017, where he also competed for the Track & Field team. During his time as an athlete, Mikell was an MVC Conference Champion in the Long Jump, a two-time NCAA East Regional Qualifier, a three-time MVC All Conference athlete, and an NCAA & MVC Academic Scholar.
