Bloomington, Ind. - The Marian men's basketball team laced up Saturday against NCAA DI No. 13 ranked Indiana, playing tough as the Knights lost 78-42 against the Hoosiers in an exhibition contest. 

Indiana jumped in front to an 11-0 lead by the first media timeout, with Marian getting on the board after the break on a Josh Bryan three-point shot. The Hoosiers defense forced Marian into several contested looks, as they were able to increase their lead to 17 points. Luke Heady and Luke Gohmann would help bring the Knights within four possessions at the midway point of the first half, but the Hoosiers were able to race back in front and led 43-21 at halftime.

Hayden Langkabel scored two of his team-leading nine points to start the second half and bring the score down to 20, but the Hoosiers showed why they are one of the top NCAA schools in the preseason rankings, increasing their lead to 27 at the first media timeout of the half. Indiana would increase their lead and by 30 or more for the final 7:00 of play, as they would take home a 36-point win in their exhibition opener. 

The Knights finished the afternoon making 14-of-57 from the field (25 percent) and both teams finished with eight made three-point field goals. Marian scored 13 second chance points and scored 16 off turnovers, forcing five steals in the contest. Marian turned the ball over just 12 times compared to Indiana's six, while the Hoosiers held a 48-30 advantage in rebounding. 

Langkabel led the team with nine points, while Christian Harvey scored seven. Gohmann and Taeshon Cherry each scored six, and Jackson Ames led the Knights in rebounding with six in the contest. Bryan and Maximus Gizzi each had a game-high two steals. 

Marian will return to regular season play on Thursday night, as they host Governors State at 7 p.m.
