Wauwatosa, Wis. - The Marian men's bowling team kicked off their 2022-2023 seasons over the weekend in Wisconsin, placing in a tie for 11th overall at the Midwest Collegiate Championships. Marian gained six positions on the leaderboard after the opening day of competition, moving into the top-15 after strong baker play on Sunday.
The Knights knocked down 6029 pins on Saturday in the team and individual games, and were led by Dylan Mollo who finished 23rd overall with a 1333 total pinfall. Mollo averaged 222 pins per game, and a top game of 258 pins in his second to last round. Trevor Lawson had Marian's second best score of the day, rolling a 1254 over his six games of play. Lawson had four games with a 200 or better, and topped out at 258 in his first game to finish 50th overall. Closing out Marian's top-three bowlers was Nickolas Archacki, who finished 64th overall with 1222 pins knocked down.
Alex Wiles had Marian's fourth best score as he struck down 1161 pins, bowling a 200 or better in three games to finish 103rd overall. Kyle Toyias and Matthew Watson each bowled in three games, with Toyias striking down 532 pins, while Watson had a 527 score. Marian's score after the team play was good for 17th overall on Saturday.
On Sunday, the Knights scored a 3300 in baker play, gaining six spots to move from 17 to 11 overall. Marian averaged a 206.25 per game in baker play,
Marian will return to the lanes this weekend, driving north to Michigan as Spring Arbor hosts the first and second Crossroads League matches of the season on Friday and Saturday.
