INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 7-ranked Marian women's soccer team put up a hard-fought match with the No. 10-ranked University of the Cumberlands, ending the match in a 0-0 draw.
The Patriots were the first to strike in the match, with a shot and a save by Noelle Rolfsen coming two minutes into the game. Rolfsen made three saves in the opening 27 minutes, while Isabelle Stanfield came up big making the defensive save right after.
Cumberlands were not the only firing off shots, as Marian put together a solid first half, firing off five of their own. Erin Oleksak got things started for the Knights, firing off a shot at the 6:40 mark that made its way past the goalie, before being saved by the Patriots defender. Not long after, Naomi Walters made the next attempt for the Knights, but came up empty in her search for a goal. The Knights continued their offensive attack, with Jacelyn Smith, Marian Corro Celma and Stanfield all making attempts. However, the Patriots defense stood tall and held off the attack made by the Knights.
Marian continued with their aggressive approach in the second half with Oleksak leading the way yet again, ripping two more shots in about 20 minutes of play, both of which being be saved by the goalie. At the 57:13 mark, Delaney Taylor got in on the action by booting one that came up just short, hitting the crossbar. Late into the half, Walters had another great look at goal, but was unable to capitalize as her shot would go wide.

Gretchen Mallin was the first to strike, but once again the Patriots goalie would come up big making the save. With two final efforts by the Knights, Allie Schlom fired off an attempt before a last second corner kick by Taylor left the score tied, 0-0.
Both team's defenses proved to be an offensive stopper, with Rolfsen making five total saves on 10 shots attempted, and six shots on goal for the Knights.
