Knights Earn Senior Night Win Over Cornerstone

INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian wrestling team earned their second home dual victory of the season Friday night, earning a swift 45-9 victory over Cornerstone on senior night. Marian's win is their third against WHAC Competition this season, as Marian moves to 3-0 in WHAC play. 

Marian was the beneficiary of five Cornerstone forfeits, with Jacob Simone (125)Asa Garcia (141)Ian Heath (149)Sam Osho (184), and Jack Servies (197) all earning victories in the dual. 

The first match on the mat went to the Golden Eagles, as Dylan McKelvey fell on a 17-0 tech fall to Devan Johnson at 133 lbs. In the 157 match, Zach Wilson fell on a major decision, scoring late as Thade Radosa earned a 16-4 major decision victory against the freshman.

Marian's first win on the mat came at 165, with Jordan Fulks dominating his head to head matchup against Daniel Countryman. Fulks scored a quick 10 points in the first period, and continued to lead the match into the third period, as he scored a win by fall at the 5:56 mark of the match. 

Fulks' win gave Marian a 24-9 lead, and at 174 the lead for Marian grew by three points with Noah Hollendonner claiming a 10-4 win by decision over Cooper Mansfield. 

Marian led 39-9 after the Hollendonner win and wins by forfeit at 184 and 197, leaving Austin Lane left to finish at 285. Lane scored an early takedown over Brendan Mahar, and continued to assert himself in his match as he rolled to an 8-1 lead, closing the night with a first period win by fall.

Marian's 45-9 victory leads into their final two road duals of the WHAC season, traveling to Indiana Tech on Saturday to wrestle against the Warriors as well as the Cleary Cougars.
