EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Marian men's cross country team competed against a loaded field of teams from all collegiate levels at the Southern Indiana's Angel Mounds Invitational on Friday morning. In a field of 19 teams that included 12 NCAA DI schools, the Knights finished sixth overall.
Blake Hipkiss headlined Marian in the race.
Blake Hipkiss posted the top time for the Knights, as he led the team with a time of 25:24.8 to finish 16th overall in the field of 174 runners. Hipkiss clocked a 2k time of 6:01 and a 5k time of 15:44.1, while finishing with an overall pace of 5:07 throughout the 8k race. Robin Aguilar-Gonzalez was the next finisher for Marian, placing 26th after crossing the finish line in a time of 25:56.1.
Marian's next three runners kept a tight pack, including Benjamin Moster (26:20.5), Clark Chustz (26:25.6), and Tristan Trevino (26:35.8), placing 40th, 42nd, and 51st respectively. Aaron Broderick was the next runner to toe the line for the Knights, who clocked a time of 26:53.8, before Adam Heitz would come in behind her, finishing in a time of 24:10.1. Nick Frank also ran in the race, but did not finish.
The Knights have one race left before postseason competition, as they are set to compete in the annual NAIA Great Lakes Challenge on October 21 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
