Evansville, Ind. - The Marian women's cross country continued their fall season on Friday morning, running in the University of Southern Indiana's Angel Mounds Invitational. The Knights competed strong in the field of 19 teams that included 12 NCAA DI schools, placing 11th overall.
Liz Loichinger posted the top time for Marian in the race.
Liz Loichinger was the top Marian runner in the field, as she led the team in the 6K race with a time of 23:55.1 to finish 66th overall in the field of 168 runners. Loichinger hit the first 3K of the race in 11:44, while pacing a 6:32 kilometer time over the final three kilos. Marian's second finisher was
Brooke Trinkle who placed 76h overall with a 24:11 time, crossing just over 15 seconds behind Loichinger.
Nora Steele and
Lindsay Huston finished 81st and 82nd overall, respectively, as the duo crossed the finish line within one tenth of a second of each other. Steele had a flat time of 24:27 in the race, while her teammate finished 0.1 second after in the back to back finish. Huston had a stronger finishing kick than Steele, while the junior opened the race on an 11:48 pace for three kilometers.Â
Freshman
Emily Baker finished fifth on the team by cracking the top 100 overall runners in the field, clocking a time of 24:59.
Luci Woodrum was the fifth Knight to cross the finish line, as she recorded a race time of 25:21 placing 10 spots behind Baker.
Rosie Barrett finished 15 seconds and six runners after Woodrum did with a true time of 25:36.4.
Josie Feldman would round out Marian's group in the field, as the freshman recorded a time of 25:53, finishing 122nd overall.
The Knights will travel to Michigan next weekend as they run at the annual NAIA Great Lakes Regional Challenge. The race is held in Grand Rapids, and hosted by Aquinas College.
