GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Marian women's cross country team returned to action on Saturday morning, running in the annual Great Lakes Cross Country Challenge, hosted by Aquinas College. The Knights ran in the maroon race with a very tough field, running against 12 ranked schools and finishing 14th of 22 teams.
Marian's top-five runners crossed the finish line in 1:40:05.3. St. Francis (Ill.) won the race, and were followed by Goshen, Grace, Indiana Wesleyan, and Carroll (Mont.) in the top-five.
Liz Loichinger led Marian with her season-best time of 19:25.8 in the 5K race to finish 30th overall. Brooke Trinkle was second on the team with a 53rd place finish after clocking a time of 19:44.3. The Knights had two other runners finish in the top-100, as Lindsay Huston and Nora Steele placed 76th and 85th. Huston toed the line in 20:05.7 and Steele finished in 20:13.6.
Emily Baker had the fifth best time for Marian after running in a time of 20:36.1, while
Rosie Barrett clocked in at 20:39.6 and
Lainey Roth finished with her time of 20:46.4.
Luci Woodrum turned in a time of 20:54.7, before
Josie Feldman crossed the finish lin ein 21:41.7 and
Katie Woods finished in a time of 21:58.7 to round out the runners for Marian.
Marian will next race on November 3 in Upland, Indiana, as the Knights will race in the Crossroads League Championship race.
