Upland, Ind. - The Marian men's cross country team competed at the annual Crossroads League Championship on Friday morning, racing against the other nine teams in the league on Taylor's cross country course. The Knights finished sixth overall in the meet, while
Blake Hipkiss led the team with All-Crossroads League honors.
Indiana Wesleyan continued their strong season, winning the Crossroads League Championship with a team total of 19 points, as they claimed the top-four individual finishers. Taylor finished second in the meet, while Goshen placed third and Grace College finished fourth. Huntington finished 16 points ahead of the Knights, with Marian finishing sixth with a team score of 145. Spring Arbor, Mt. Vernon, Bethel, and St. Francis finished seventh through tenth.Â
Blake Hipkiss led the Knights individually, placing 10th overall in the final standings. Hipkiss turned in a time of 25:38.3, earning All-Crossroads League honors with his efforts. The senior's finish earned him an individual spot at the NAIA Championships in two weeks, where Hipkiss will compete for an NAIA Championship.
Marian's second finisher was
Tristan Trevino, who finished 25th overall with his time of 26:14. Trevino was followed by
Robin Aguilar-Gonzalez, who finished 31st overall with a strong time of 26:23.
Benjamin Moster finished 37th overall with his time of 26:41, and
Aaron Broderick finished 53rd with his time of 27:21.
Robert Lohman finished 59th overall with his time of 27:31, and
Nick Frank rounded out the team scoring with his 67th overall place finish. Frank turned in a time of 27:47.
