INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian football team is looking to get back on track this Saturday afternoon at St. Vincent Field, as the seventh-ranked Knights host Siena Heights for a senior day matchup. Saturday's senior day kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. Below is a guide for fans to find information relating to this week's action.
THE GAME AND THE SERIES
Marian has owned the series against Siena Heights, carrying a perfect 10-0 record against the Saints into Saturday afternoon. For the second consecutive year the Knights will host Siena Heights, with Marian winning last year on senior day against the Saints by a 24-2 score. The Knights have allowed seven points or less in each of their previous three meetings with Siena Heights.Â
Defense dominated last year's windy and wet matchup, as the Knights won 24-2. A blocked punt by David Badescu and a pick-six from Jake Paris highlighted Marian's win last season, while the offense found touchdowns via a CJ Young receiving score and Drew Byerly wildcat run. The Saints were held to just 141 yards last season against Marian.
The Knights enter the 2023 contest with an 8-1 overall record, while the Saints are 6-3 and winners of their last four games. Siena Heights enters the week coming off of a record-setting 77-point outing in a win over Madonna University.Â
PLAYOFF PUSH
Marian enters the week ranked No. 7 in the NAIA Coaches Poll, dropping three spots in the national ratings following their loss to Indiana Wesleyan. Marian is a current candidate to make the NAIA Football Championship Series as an at-large team, and is in a position where they can earn a first round bye and host in the second round. The Knights control their own destiny, and with a win could potentially have a chance to climb back up in the rankings with help from around the NAIA.

SENIOR DAY

Senior activities for the members of the gameday cheerleading, dance, and pep band will take place during halftime.Â
SPECIAL RECOGNITION
Throughout the game, Marian will recognize and honor other team success on campus from the last year. In the spring, the Marian women's track and field team finished fourth in the NAIA, marking their best finish in program history. The Knights had multiple All-Americans in the group led by seniors Jai-Lyn Norwood and Erin Oleksak, and they will be honored at the end of the first quarter.
Additionally, both the men's and women's golf teams won their respective Crossroads League Championships, and each qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. The golf programs will have a chance to be honored during halftime of Saturday's game.
Lastly, at the end of the third quarter the Marian cycling team will be honored, as earlier this fall the track group won the USA Collegiate National Championship.
Marian and Siena Heights will square off on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. from St. Vincent Field in the final home game of the regular season.
