INDIANAPOLIS - The Crossroads League bowling season came to it's conclusion on Saturday afternoon, with the Marian men's bowling team finishing third at the Crossroads League Championships. The Knights were one of four teams that qualified for the finals as they earned the top spot, but were defeated in bracket play by Mount Vernon Nazarene. Huntington would go on to win the Crossroads League Tournament.
The Knights started the morning strong on their home alley, placing first in the qualifying match play out of the seven Crossroads League teams. Marian bowled a 2410, holding an 81-pin advantage of Spring Arbor who finished second. Huntington and Mount Vernon placed in the top-four to qualify for the bracket play, as Indiana Wesleyan, Bethel, and Grace were eliminated.
Marian's top seed did not play to their advantage, as they were taken down by the Cougars in the first game of the best-of-three baker series, losing 201-179. The Knights needed a win to force the if-necessary game, but came up short, losing by one pin on a 152-151 score to Mount Vernon Nazarene. Huntington upset Spring Arbor winning two of three games on the other side of the bracket, with the Foresters going on to defeat the Cougars two games to none in the championship round.
The Knights season will continue next weekend, as they compete in the USBC Sectionals hosted in Dayton, Ohio, from March 10-12.
