INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian women's tennis team earned their second consecutive victory on Wednesday afternoon, as the Knights took down Huntington 7-0 in Crossroads League play. The win was the first for Marian at home this season, as they improve to 2-2 overall on the season.
Marian won all three matches in doubles to take the first point of the day, with two of the three games finishing in nine sets or less. At No. 1 doubles,
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Katharina Bopst scored a 7-5 win against Esther Bolon and Courtney Rich, while at No. 2 doubles Ana Barbosa Fernandez and
Michelle Irigoyen scored a 6-0 win against Nina Golfier and Isabella Herrera. At No. 3 doubles,
Isadora Muller and
Paloma Caceres Villalba won 6-3 against Grace Meyer and Taylor Kern, finishing off the sweep.
At No. 5 singles,
Katharina Bopst got the first point for Marian of singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Meyer, while at No. 2 singles Irigoyen won 6-0, 6-0 against Bolon to put Marian on top 3-0.
No. 3 singles went to
Emma Chrome, who won 6-1, 6-0 against Rich, clinching Marian's victory. The match continued with a 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6 singles, as Caceres defeated Kern. No. 1 singles went to Barbosa, who won 6-2, 6-0 against Herrera, while at No. 4 singles, it was
Sara Corrio Alemany defeating Golfier 6-3, 6-1 to finish the 7-0 sweep.
Following the win, Marian will get set to hit the road on Saturday, as they travel to Grace College.
