GOSHEN, Ind. - The Marian women's tennis team continued their success on Thursday afternoon, as they notched their fifth consecutive win with the 7-0 sweep over Goshen.
Marian worked quick in the doubles action, with
Isadora Muller and
Paloma Caceres Villalba taking down Meagan Godzisz and Morgan Priebe in easy 6-1 fashion at the No. 3 spot. At No. 2 doubles,
Ana Barbosa Fernandez and
Michelle Irigoyen won 6-2 over Sude Aytekin and Carmen Aliaga, while
Yasmin Imamniyazova and
Katharina Bopst were leading 5-3 over Szofia Kallai and Blanka Bodo at No. 1 doubles.
The Knights continued to dominate the courts in singles action, as they picked up all six wins. Bopst was the first to finish for Marian with her 6-1, 6-1 win against Godzisz at No. 4 singles. Caceres Villalba took down Priebe 6-2, 6-0 to win at the No. 5 spot while
Joelle Leihbacher defeated Naomi Lapp Klassen at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory. At No. 3 singles,
Emma Chrome kept the winning coming for the Knights, as she grabbed the 6-2, 6-1 victory over Bodo, and Imamniyazova finished off Aytekin 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot. Irigoyen's match was the only to go to three sets, as she picked up the 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-6) win over Kallai to help the Knights clinch the 7-0 victory.
Marian will return to the courts on September 24, as they travel to Saint Francis (Ind.) in their final Crossroads League match.
