FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Marian women's tennis team finished off the regular season Crossroads League play on high note, as they took down Saint Francis (Ind.) with a 7-0 victory. Marian's win improves their record to 6-2 on the season and puts them at third place in league play.
The Knights worked through the Cougar lineup in doubles to kickoff the action.
Darja Hubert and
Elisa Roccaforte grabbed the first win of the day, as they defeated Natalie Moore and Ellie Klinger 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.
Joelle Leihbacher and
Dana Savarino took down Alyssa Ciocca and Victoria Rodenbeck 6-2 at No. 2 doubles, before
Isadora Muller and
Paloma Caceres Villalba won 7-5 over Lauren Korte and Ellen Reidy.
In singles action, Muller picked up the sweep 6-0, 6-0 over Ciocca at No. 3 singles, before Savarino picked up the 6-1, 6-2 victory over Rodenbeck at the No. 4 spot. At No. 1 singles, Caceres Villalba defeated Reidy by a score of 6-2, 6-3, while Leihbacher finished next for the Knights with her 6-2, 6-4 against Korte at No. 2 singles. Marian grabbed two more wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles to finish the sweep, as Hubert won over Moore 6-0, 6-0, and Roccaforte defeated Klinger 6-0, 6-1.
Marian will be back in action September 27-30 for the ITA Tournament before hosting Goshen on October 3 for the Crossroads League Quarterfinals.
