Cedar Falls, Iowa - The Marian wrestling team finished their two-day run at the 2024 NWCA National Duals on Saturday afternoon, going undefeated on Saturday to finish 13th in the tournament. Marian earned a win over Graceland in their first match of the day, while following with win over William Penn to take 13th. Marian is now 3-5 overall on the year in dual competition.
Marian 32-16 Graceland
The Knights fell behind the eight-ball on Saturday with their first match against Graceland as
Logan Richardson fell by major decision, but Marian retaliated with four unanswered wins.
Landon Bertsch scored a 7-5 win at 133, and
Logan Wagner continued his tear of wins with a 22-5 tech fall win at 141.
Seth Johnson landed a win by fall doing so in 78 seconds at 149, and
Aundre Beatty picked up a 20-3 tech fall win at 157 to earn his first win of the weekend.
Jimmy Lacey got pinned at 165 and saw Marian's streak snap, but
Noah Hollendonner scored a fifth win at 174 with a 13-7 win by decision in his first action of the weekend.
Liam Begley won by fall at 197 and
Excell Brooks won by major decision with a 17-4 score at 285, ending Marian's scoring with 32 points. Graceland would earn a win at 184 as Marian forfeited the weight, resulting in the final score of 32-16.

In the 13th place match, Marian got off to a strong start winning each of the first five weight classes of the match. Richardson scored a win by fall in the first two minutes over Brendan Nantz. Bertsch scored a win at 133 with a 6-2 decision, and
Logan Wagner ended his 4-0 weekend with a win by fall at the 2:39 mark in the 141 weight.
Seth Johnson followed with a 7-0 win by decision at 149, and
Aundre Beatty finished an undefeated day with a 17-7 major decision win.Â
William Penn would earn three consecutive wins at 165, 174, and 184, with
James Lacey falling by tech fall, Hollendonner losing by a 7-6 decision, and the Knights forfeiting at 184.
Liam Begley and
Excell Brooks closed the match strong, as Begley won at 197 by major decision, and Brooks won by fall at the two minute mark, capping the win.
Marian next competes on Saturday, as a group of Knights will travel to Manchester University for the annual Spartan Mat Classic.Â
