Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian men's soccer team claimed a 4-2 win over (RV) Spring Arbor on Saturday evening. The Knights are now 10-2-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the Crossroads League.
Marian got off to an early start with
Matthew Loo hitting the back of the net with the assist from
Phillip Seifert to claim the first goal of the night at the four minute mark. Five short minutes later Spring Arbor was able to get their hand at a goal to bottleneck the game 1-1. The middle portion of the first half was very shot heavy for both sides with Spring Arbor tallying seven shots with six on target. The Knights shot tallied three shots with only one on goal.
Donovan Doolittle was able to get his hand at a goal with the assist from
Yeudiel Sebastian Gonzalez to draw out two yellow cards for the Cougars.
Cameron O'Brien took advantages of Gonzalez's kick off of fouls from the visitors to hit the back of the net to extend the Knights lead 3-1 to finish off the first half.
Opening up the second half Doolittle secured a brace with another goal with Gonzalez claiming his third assist of the night. The Cougars kept possession of the ball for the majority of the middle part of the second half claiming three shots before they were successful bringing the score 4-2. Spring Arbor took four more shots with one on target while the Knights clocked three shots with one on target. Marian finished off the match with a 4-2 win over the Cougars to move up to the third place position in the Crossroads League.
Seifert and Gonzalez both led the team in shots with three both clocking one on goal.
Josh Wesseling and Doolittle both claimed two shots each while;
Kyohei Kuroda,
Matthew Loo, and
Cameron O'Brien each tallied one shot. Gonzalez led the team in assists while Seifert claimed one. In goal
Juan Torres clocked nine saves on the night.
The Knights start off their three-game road stretch traveling to Bethel University on Wednesday October 16th starting at 7:00 p.m.
