Mount Vernon, Ohio - The Marian men's soccer team fell in a tough fight on the road Saturday afternoon 0-1 to Mt. Vernon. The Knights are now 12-3-2 overall and 5-2-1 in the Crossroads League.

The Knights and Cougars had a battle in shots over the afternoon with Marian and Mount Vernon both claiming seven shots each in the first half. Kyle Alb took a header shot on goal after Yoshiaki Takeishi's corner kick but was to no avail due to the Cougars goalie Brayden Pierson. Donnovan Doolittle took his hand at a shot at the 16 minute mark but was to no avail. Matthew Loo claimed the last shot of the half for the Knights but fell short with Pierson's fast reflexes to end the first half with a blank slate of 0-0.

Mount Vernon out-shot Marian 11-5 in the second half while the Knights claimed four shots on goal. Takeishi claimed the first shot on goal at the 53 minute mark but came to no avail. Loo took his chance again at the 64 minute mark but Pierson claimed the save. Phillip Seifert tabbed a shot on goat and fell short at the 76 minute mark. The Cougars struck with a goal by Daniel Martinez to claim the 1-0 lead. Yeudiel Sebastian Gonzalez fired back but was to no avail in competition with Pierson for the Knights to come up short.

Matthew Loo claimed the most shots on the afternoon with six and two on goal. Takeishi, Alb, Gonzalez, Josh Wesseling, Doolittle, and Seifert all claimed one shot on the evening. In goal Juan Torres claimed six saves.
