Santa Clarita, Calif. - The Marian women's cross country team recorded their first top-five outing of the season on Saturday morning, putting up a season-best effort at The Master's XC Invite.
Katie Woods led the team with a 20th place effort, as Marian had each of their top-five runners finish in the top-45 scoring order.
Katie Woods paced the Knights with a 25th place overall finish, clocking a time of 22:54.7. Woods' time is her third-best on the season, as she average 3:49 per kilometer.
Emma Beimfohr finished just moments behind Woods, clocking a 23:09.1 time to finish 34th overall in the meet.Â
A pack of Marian runners finished just 12 seconds after Beimfohr, as three individuals hit the line in top-50 scoring places.
Vivienne Siefker finished 47th overall and 36th in the scoring, hitting a time of 23:20.7, while
Nora Steele finished with a 23:23.5 time, crossing 50th overall and 39th in scoring order.
Summer Rempe finished 52nd to close the trio of Knights, finishing with a 23:25 time.
Gracynn Hinkley finished 85th overall with a 24:11 time, and
Gracie Fields completed the team scoring, finishing 88th overall with her 24:14 effort.
Lainey Roth finished 94th with her time of 24:24, and
Lindsay Huston finished 99th with a 24:27 time.
Salt Lake College won the event with a score of 35, while the host school The Master's finished second overall. Fresno Pacific and Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) finished third and fourth, respectively, while Marian finished fifth overall with a total score of 162. Marian defeated three NAIA institutions in the meet, and scored wins over multiple NCAA universities from the DI through DIII levels.Â
Marian will close out the regular season on October 26 at the annual Great Lakes Challenge, hosted by Aquinas in the greater Grand Rapids Area.
