No. 24 Marian Swept the Maple Leafs on Senior Day

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian volleyball team take home the 3-0 sweep over Goshen Saturday afternoon in Senior Day action. The Knights are now 20-7 overall and 11-6 in the Crossroads League going into their final game of the regular season. Marian honored their six seniors; Logan Smith, Emma Hirchak, Gabby Fish, Madison Brooks, Sydney Schaffer, and Mikayla Christiansen before their match-up against Goshen.

The Knights took the early lead in the first set with a 10-0 rally where Marian capitalized on attacking errors and crucial kills with Mikayla Christiansen tabbing the final kill of the rally. Madison Brooks and Logan Smith started up the second rally claiming kills on top of the Maple Leafs attacking errors. Marian continued their strategy on taking advantage of crucial errors by Goshen to claim the first set win with a final score of 25-7. 

The second set unlike the first was very back and fourth on each side of the court. Until the Knights claimed the go-a-head lead with Christiansen and Fish each claiming a kill along with the Maple Leafs consecutive attacking errors to increase their lead 12-4. Marian went on another run with Nicole Wilkinson and Brooks claiming blocks to end out the rally with five points left to claim the set. The home team claimed the 25-15 win highlighted by Emma Hirchak's kill along with her block with Sarah Bennett.

The home team controlled the third set going on a 6-0 run to open up the set with Brooks, Wilkinson, and Christiansen all tabbing kills. Hirchak opened up the next run with a kill and assist on Bennett's block. Emerson Evans tabbed the last point of the run with a service ace to increase the lead 13-3. Schaffer and Lainey Brauman each claimed a service ace at the tail-end of the third set while, Avery Toole claimed a block, and Evie Dart claimed a kill in the 25-8 win in the set.

The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, November 6th at 7:00 p.m. for their final match in the regular season on the road against Grace College.
