Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian Men's soccer team finished victorious with two clutch goals to secure the 4-2 win Saturday evening. The Knights are now 3-0-1 overall on the season.
The first half started off at a slower pace with no shots taken for either side until 10' where
Yoshiaki Takeishi took the first shot of the evening. The Knights had little luck in the first half of period one with majority of the shots to high. Lourdes had alot of trouble with fouls allowing the Knights to take three more shots before
Kyohei Kuroda was successful to put Marian in the lead. The Gray Wolves fired back with a goal at the 36' mark to put the game at a 1-1 tie going into the half.
Lourdes came out of the half with the first shot off of a corner kick to be saved by
Juan Torres. Marian fired back with
Kyle Alb scoring off of a header from
Romaric Berneron's kick to put the Knights back in the lead. The Gray Wolves tied the score yet again with a goal at the 66' mark to level the game 2-2. At the 80' mark
Phillip Seifert fired back claiming the game winning goal to put Marian back in the lead. With less than a minute left
Foslyn Grant sealed the deal with a goal to secure the 4-2 win for the Knights.
Alb, Grant, Seifert, and Kuroda all lead the team with one goal each. Seifert also went 2-2 while Kuroda went 1-1 on the game. Berneron,
Matthew Loo, and
Kieran Swanson all had one assist each. Torres took home the win with 3 saves on the evening.
The Knights are back in action Wednesday, September 4th on the road at IU-Northwest with kickoff set for 4:30 p.m. CT.
