INDIANPOLIS, Ind. - The Marian men's soccer team fell short against Olivet Nazarene 6-4. The Knights are now 3-1-1 overall on the season.
The Tigers struck first at the eight minute mark scoring the first goal of the day to take an early lead. The Knights offense were quick to fire back with three shots before
Foslyn Grant was able to strike with an assist from
Alan Tenorio to tie up the game 1-1. The visitors struck back a few short minutes later with another goal to claim the lead once again. Olivet Nazarene took charge overcoming Marian's defense claiming two more goals within a six minute time frame to finish the first period off with a score of 4-1.
After the half
Romaric Berneron took charge scoring a goal for the Knights at the 46' mark to bring the game to a two point game. The Tigers claimed the ball back into their hands tallying six shots with three being on target but came up short. Berneron took advantage of fouls on the visitors claiming another goal for the Knights to bring the score 4-3 in favor of the visitors.
Olivet answered back with another goal off of a corner kick at the 71' mark to increase the lead back to two. The Knights continued to fight taking advantage of crucial fouls called on the visitors to allow Grant to take a penalty shot to score another goal. The Tigers were quick to answer with the last goal of the game scored ten seconds after Marian's to claim the 6-4 win.
Grant led the team going 6-6 in shots and scoring two goals, while Berneron went 2-2 scoring two goals as well.
Alan Tenorio claimed the only assist for the day, while
Kyle Alb took three shots during the game. In goal
Kolton Crouch took the loss and claimed three saves.
