Indianapolis, Ind.- The Marian men's soccer team was back in action at home against Taylor ending the day in a 0-0 draw. The Knights move to 7-3-4 overall on the season and 2-1-2 in the Crossroads League.
Taylor struck first in the first half with a trio of shots with one on target saved by
Mateo Garcia-Galan. Marian fired back with four shots from
Gustavo Nunes,
Josh Wesseling, and a pair from
Donovan Doolittle. The Trojans fired again but came up short once more to Garcia-Galan's efforts in goal.
Rafael Zambrano attempted a last minute shot but came up wide ending the half with a 0-0 tie.Â
The Trojans opened up the half once again with a shot but came up to high. Matthew Lou attempted a shot, but came up too high from the target. Taylor fired back with another shot, but the Knights were able to followed up with a pair of shots from
Kyohei Kuroda and
Joao Antonio Rocha. Marian continued to take chances with Nunes recording a header and
Foslyn Grant recording a shot high. Each team recorded another shot with Rocha recording the shot for the Knights, but came up short to the Trojans defense in goal. Marian continued to make attempts recording six more shots compared to Taylor's three. Neither team could come up successful ending the match with a 0-0 draw.
Josh Wesseling led the Knights in shots with four while
Gustavo Nunes was close behind with three.
Donovan Doolittle and
Joao Antonio Rocha each recorded a pair while,
Kyohei Kuroda,
Matthew Loo,
Alexis Lopez,
Foslyn Grant,
Rafael Zambrano, and
Rodolfo Batisti each recorded one. In goal
Mateo Garcia-Galan earned the draw with four saves on the day.
Marian will be back in action on Wednesday, October 15th as they host the No. 7 Bethel Pilots at home at 7pm in a ranked Crossroads League matchup.
