KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After logging two victories in goal against top-25 opponents and helping Marian secure a share of the program's fifth-ever Crossroads League Regular Season Championship, women's soccer's junior goalie
Lily Ames has been named as the NAIA Defensive Player of the Week.
On Oct. 20, Ames led her team to a 3-1 win in goal against Spring Arbor (Mich.). Her one goal against in that game was the first goal she has allowed in league action this season.
Then, just five days later, she picked up five saves in a tight 1-0 win against Indiana Wesleyan to secure the regular season championship. Ames is 6-0-1 overall on the Crossroads League season, and has recorded six shutouts in goal throughout conference play.
Marian ends their regular season on Wednesday night, traveling to the University of Saint Francis for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff. Marian needs a tie or a win to secure the outright league championship.
