Goshen, Ind. - Saturday afternoon, the Marian volleyball team recorded their second 3-0 sweep of the season over the Maple Leafs. The Knights move to 16-10 overall on the season and 8-9 in the Crossroads League.
The Maple Leafs got off to an early 9-4 lead in the first set before Marian went on a four-point run behind
Emma Lyons' serve, with
Chloe Cook recording a pair of kills and
Mya Cunningham and
Nicole Wilkinson each recording a block to bring the score 8-9. Goshen continued to push, recording another rally only to be broken up by a kill from Wilkinson. Each team continued to go at the lead, recording multiple rallies with
Avery Toole,
Sarah Bennett,
Khori Dryden, and Cook all recording key kills for the Knights. Marian was able to secure the 29-27 win in set one, with Toole and Bennett each recording a kill and
Emerson Evans recording another ace.
Each team traded points back and forth in set two before the Knights were able to go on a four-point run to take the 12-11 lead.

Sarah Bennett each recorded kills in the run, as well as
Emerson Evans and
Chloe Cook recording an ace each. Marian continued to extend their lead with two points, followed by a four-point run highlighted by kills from Dryden, Bennett, Evans, and Cook. Goshen fought back with a pair of runs to tie up the set 20-20, but Marian was able to come out on top 25-22 with kills from
Ava Tindall, Wilkinson, and Dryden.Â
The Knights brought power into the third set, opening up with a 6-0 lead highlighted by kills from
Nicole Wilkinson,
Avery Toole, and
Sarah Bennett and blocks from
Khori Dryden and Bennett. The Maple Leafs fought back with small rallies, but Marian was able to maintain the lead, breaking up the rallies with key kills from Dryden, Cook, and Wilkinson. Goshen recorded their longest rally of the set to bring the Knights' lead down to 18-17, but Cook fought back with a kill, followed up by an ace from
Sami Luttel. Marian secured the 25-20 win with a kill from
Avery Toole and an ace from
Emerson Evans to end the match.
Chloe Cook led the team in points with 12, recording nine kills, three service aces, and three digs.
Khori Dryden recorded eight kills on the day with two block assists and seven digs.
Mya Cunningham led the team in assists with 17, while Sami Luttle recorded 13 and one ace.
Emma Lyons led the team in digs with 14, while
Lexa Zimmerman recorded eight.
Marian will wrap up their regular season on Wednesday, November 5th, at home against Grace at 7 PM in the P.E. Center.
