Marian Continues Victory Stretch With Win Over IU-Southeast

Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian women's basketball team recorded another victory with its 87-54 win over IU-Southeast. The Knights now move to 8-0 Overall, in the season after their win. 

The Knights took charge early, going on a 15-point run in the first four minutes of play with Taylor Double, Madisyn Bailey, and  Abbey McNally all recording points in the run. IU-Southeast fired off its first basket of the game with a layup at the 5:33 mark, but Kenna Kirby was able to quickly counter with a three-pointer. Each team fired off a pair of shots, with Kirby and McNally firing off the baskets for the Knights and increasing their lead 23-7 with three minutes remaining in the quarter. The Grenadiers fired off a three-pointer, but Olivia Faust was able to decrease the blow with a jumper. The visitors finished off the quarter with a three-pointer to bring the Knights' lead down to 25-13. 

Each team opened up the second quarter with a layup, Abbey McNally recording the basket for the Knights. Marian followed up with a pair of baskets from Zoe Wheeler and Kirby to extend their lead to 17. IU-Southeast pushed back with a three-pointer, but Marian was able to quickly counter with a six-point run with Kirby, McNally, and Double recording the baskets to increase the lead 38-18. The Grenadiers benefited from a foul from the Knights to fire off a pair of free throws.  The Knights followed up with a trio of baskets from Kennedy Coleman and Eva Fisher to extend the lead to 23. The visiting team continued to push, firing off a jumper, but Marian was able to fire off a trio of baskets from McNally, Coleman, and Fisher to end the quarter with a 49-22 lead. 

Once again, each side opened up trading baskets with Kirby recording a layup and Bailey recording a pair of free throws. Marian extended their lead 59-27 with a trio of baskets from McNally. IU-Southeast pushed back with a three-pointer, but Kiley McNally quickly fired off a pair of layups to extend the lead to 33. The Grenadiers fired off a layup, but Kiley McNally and Double were able to counter with a pair of baskets. The visitors continued to fight with a layup, but Kiley McNally and Violet Shuluga fired off a basket each, ending the quarter with a 71-34 lead. 

Marian opened up the fourth quarter with a layup from Aubrey Frank to extend the lead to 39. IU-Southeast fought back with a pair of baskets, but Faust was able to counter the blow with a jumper. The Grenadiers continued to push with another pair of baskets, but Marian fired off a trio of baskets from Shuluga and Kiley McNally to extend the lead 81-42. IU-Southeast countered once more with a three-pointer to bring the Knights' lead down to 36. Each team fired off free throws, with Emily Grim firing off the basket for the Knights. Marian fired off three more baskets from Faust and Coleman before the Grenadiers fired off a pair of baskets, ending the game 87-54. 

Abbey McNally led the team in points with 22, while Kenna Kirby recorded 12, and Kiley McNally recorded 10. Both Abbey and Kiley McNally led the team in rebounds with five, while Madisyn Bailey and Olivia Faust recorded five each. Taylor Double led the team in assists with six, while Kirby recorded five. 
Marian will be back in action on Wednesday, December 3rd, as they host Goshen starting at 5:30 PM.
