INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian wrestling team blitzed the Siena Heights Saints on Friday night in the PE Center, rolling to a 35-9 victory as Marian earned wins in seven of ten matches. Marian moves to 5-0 in the conference season with the win.
The Knights started the evening strong with a 20-4 win by
Anthony Hughes at 125, with the senior wrestling down a weight class for the first time in the season. Hughes scored five early points with his tech fall win, providing a quick 5-0 lead.
Landon Bertsch put up a fight in the ensuing match at 133, but fell by a 7-5 decision to Randy Frailey.Â
Marian would go on to score wins in each of the next five matches, beginning with a swift 31-second win by fall from
Logan Wagner at 141.
Marlin Williams scored a win by forfeit at 149, and in the 157 match,
Christian Arberry hammered Austen Murphy in a 19-3 tech fall that was decided in 5:34.
Braden Getz also won by tech fall, taking a win at 165 in the full seven minutes. Getz held a riding time advantage of over four minutes.Â
Anthony Rinehart closed out the winning run, landing a 15-0 victory in 2:30 at the 174 weight class. Siena Height would earn three points in each of the 184 and 197-pound matches with
Peter Sells and
Josh McKelvin losing by decision, but
Michael Yerian finished the night strong, taking a 9-2 win by decision to seal Marian's 35-9 victory.
Marian next wrestles on December 19, traveling south to compete in the Bluegrass Invite.
