Corbin, Ky. - The Marian wrestling team ended its first semester on a high note Friday, as they finished as the runner-up in the Battle in the Bluegrass Invite, hosted by the University of the Cumberlands. Marian had two individual champions on the day, with
Anthony Hughes and
Logan Wagner winning their respective weight classes.
The Knights had a strong outing in Kentucky, winning two championships as
Anthony Hughes rolled to a 3-0 day in his 125 weight class win, while
Logan Wagner also posted a perfect 3-0 record to win the 141 weight class. Hughes scored two wins over ranked wrestlers to highlight his success.
Braden Getz finished as the runner-up in the 165 weight class, while
Michael Yerian (285) and
Anthony Rinehart (174) each finished third in their brackets.
Noah Hollendonner bumped up to 184 and finished third in the 184 weight class, while Jevian Ross,
Jeff Dunasky Jr.,
Landon Bertsch,
Emmanuel Akpadija and
Marlin Williams all placed in the top-six.
