INDIANAPOLIS - The Marian wrestling team ended their dual season in style on Friday night, as the Knights rolled past Rochester Christian 39-13 in the PE Center. Marian improved to 5-1 overall on their dual season, finishing second in the WHAC regular season standings.
Marian began the night with 12 quick points, taking victories by forfeit at both the 125 and 133 weight classes.
Anthony Hughes and
Landon Bertsch earned the free victories, putting the Knights in a 12-0 lead.
Brady Ison battled in the first head-to-head contest on the match, taking on Dylan Coleman. Ison scored an early takedown to help fuel his win, as he won by a 9-5 decision against Coleman at 141.
Marlin Williams would fall in his matchup at 149, taking a tough loss against Adam Polk, as Polk earned a 17-5 major decision victory for the Warriors' first points of the evening. Marian would get back in gear with their next two matches, taking consecutive wins by fall.
Elliott Rodgers won in 3:47 against Jager Kwiatkowski in the 157 match, and in the 165 match, it was
Braden Getz landing Marian a win over Nate Young in 2:55 with his pin.Â
The two wins by fall gave Marian a 27-4 lead in the dual, however Rochester would show fight with their next two matches. Julius Polk won by major decision over
James Lacey with an 11-3 score at 174, and at 184
Peter Sells lost an eventual tech fall against Kirgin Tanis, as the match ended in a 19-4 score. The Knights would finish the evening with an additional 12 points, claiming forfeitures at 197 and 285, giving
Clay Guenin and
Michael Yerian victories in their respective weight classes, ending in the final score of 39-13.
Marian will end their regular season on Sunday, as the Knights compete at the University of Indianapolis Greyhound Open.Â
