Indianapolis, Ind. - The Marian men's tennis team fell 5-2 Wednesday afternoon to Missouri Baptist. The Knights move to 8-9 overall on the season.
Marian opened up the day with Tjark Kinkel and
Jan Bartolome winning 6-2 at No. 3 doubles and Juan Garcia-Tunon as well as
Marcos Ramos Cabrera defeating the Spartans at No. 2, 6-4 to claim the point.
Jones McNamar and
James Ashworth played out their doubles match falling 7-6 (7-5) at No. 1.
Ramos Cabrera extended Marian's lead with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles. The Knights luck didnt last long with Ashworth falling at No. 2, 6-4, 7-6(3) and
Marc Soriano falling at No. 1, 6-3, 6-4. Kunkel was the next to finish at No. 5 falling 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 as well as Garcia-Tunon falling at No. 3, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Wrapping up the match Bartolome fell at No. 4, 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 to allow Missouri Baptist to claim the 5-2 win over Marian.Â
The Knights are back in action on the road on Friday, March 14th at 3pm as they travel to Williamsburg, Ky. to take on No. 16 Cumberlands.
