UPDATED APRIL 26, 2025 - Marian was credited with a victory by forfeit following a rules violation from Spring Arbor. Marian's loss in game two was flipped to a 7-0 victory by forfeit on Friday, April 25.
Spring Arbor, Mich. - The Marian softball team split their first double header against Spring Arbor to open up the weekend. Marian won game one in a 15-4 run rule to end the game in five innings. The Knights fell in game two 4-3 to bring their overall record to 13-3 and 3-1 in the Crossroads League.

The Knights dominated in the first inning with
Grace Meyer kicking things off advancing on a fielding error by second to allow
Abbey Hofmann to score. Soon after
Ally Malone singled into right center to allow Meyer and
Lily Wendt to cross the plate. The Knights weren't done in the first inning with
Hayley Greene crossing home plate on an error by the catcher followed by a two run home run by
Brooke Knox to allow Marian to take the early 6-0 lead.
Abby Madere fired a bomb into center field to score two runs and end the second inning 8-0. The Knights followed up with a huge third inning with
Jenna Minnix kicking things off with a reach on a fielding error by the shortstop to allow Knox to score on the error. Hofmann doubled into left field which allowed Minnix to score a run followed by Madere hitting a sacrifice fly into right field to allow Hofmann to score and extend the lead 11-0. Marian kept pushing with Meyer reaching first on an error by second allowing
Anna Pritchett to score on the play.
Ally Malone extended the lead with a single into center field whic allowed Meyer and Wendt to score on the single followed by Greene scoring on a wild pitch extending the lead 15-0. Spring Arbor was the last to strike with a double in the third to score two runs and a single in the fourth to score a pair of runs ending the game 15-4 allowing a run rule win for the Knights.
Abbey Hofmann led the team going 3-3 from the plate with three runs and one RBI.
Lily Wendt went 2-3 from the plate recording two runs.
Ally Malone also went 2-3 from the plate and recorded one run and led the team in RBIs with four while
Abby Madere recorded three.
Brooke Knox also went 2-3 from the plate and recorded a pair of runs and RBIs. In the circle Olivia Stunkle took the win with three innings pitched recording three strikeouts and three hits.
Alayna Tesnar closed for the Knights with two innings pitched and two strikeouts as well as three hits.
Game 2| Marian 3-4 Spring Arbor
Marian got off to a strong start in game two with
Lily Wendt hitting a sacrifice fly into left field to allow
Abbey Hofmann to score an take the early lead in the first inning. The Cougars were able to fight back with a single out to center field to allow for a run to score and bring the game 1-1. Both teams had a couple dry innings before Marian struck again with
Abby Madere singling into center field to allow Hofmann to score and take the lead. Wendt extended the lead with a double into right center to allow Madere to score. Marian held off the Cougars for three more innings while also not striking themselves but the Cougars were able to end the game with a three run home run to take the 4-3 win over Marian and split the double header 1-1.
Lily Wendt led the Knights in game two going 3-3 from the plate with two RBIs while
Anna Pritchett went 2-4 from the plate.
Abby Madere recorded a 1-3 from the plate while recording a run and a rebound. In the circle
Macy Coan took the loss pitching 6.1 innings giving up 10 hits and four runs out of her 27 batters faced.
The Knights will be back in action on Monday at home as they take on Mount Vernon with first pitch set for 3 PM for game one.
