Melbourne, Fla. - The Marian softball team ended their Spring Coast Games run today as they ended 1-1 on the day falling to Aquinas 4-5 and defeating Lawrence Tech 13-1. The Knights are now 10-2 overall on the season.
Game 1 | Marian 4-5 Aquinas
Marian started out game one on a high with
Anna Pritchett singling into center field to allow
Abbey Hofmann to score the first run of the game.
Grace Meyer extended the lead with a single into right field and a advancement to second on an error which allowed Pritchett to score.
Brenna Fink was the last to extend the lead in the inning with a ground out to third to earn an RBI as well as allowing
Abby Madere to score increasing the Knights lead 3-0.
Aquinas struck in the third inning with a double followed by a single and an error on Marian's shortstop to bring the game to a 3-3 tie.
Lily Wendt doubled into left field to allow Meyer to score and take the Knights lead back once more. The Saints however were the last to strike with a single into center field and scored off of an error by third base.Â
Grace Meyer and
Lily Wendt led the team going 3-2 from the plate.
Anna Pritchett, Meyer, Wendt, and
Brenna Fink all recorded an RBI each. From the circle
Olivia Stunkel gained the start pitching 2.1 innings and recording one strikeout.
Katie Lackman recorded the loss withh 3.2 innings and recording two strikeouts.
Alayna Tesnar pitched the last inning facing three batters.
Game 2 | Marian 13-1 Lawrence Tech | 5 Innings
Marian bounced back from their loss scoring six runs in the first inning with
Abbey Hofmann, Jenna Minniz,
Abby Madere,
Grace Meyer,
Lily Wendt, and
Caroline Roop each recorded a run to put the Knights in a 6-0 lead.Â
Lawrence Tech recorded their soul run with a single into center field to score the runner. Marian was able to extend their lead with
Ella Piercy and
Emily Phillips scoring in the third inning. Phillips,
Emily Collins, Madere, and Meyer each scored in the fifth to end the game with a 13-1 win.Â
Marian will return to action on Tuesday for their home opener and Crossroads League opener as they take on Huntington in a double header starting at 3 pm for game one.
