Indianapolis, Ind. - The 21st ranked Knights wrap up home stand with a 6-0 shutout win over Georgetown College. Marian now moves to 3-0 overall on the season.
The Knights offense struck early with a shot from
Kyohei Kuroda on target that was saved by the Tigers goalie.
Rafael Zambrano followed up with a pair of shots a little bit off target. Sam Wehaus then got his chance which was saved by Georgetown. He followed up with a goal with the assist from Zambrano to take the early 1-0 lead. Marian continued to stay in control recording two more shots from Wehaus and Nunes before the half came to a close.
Marian was on fire after halftime with
Josh Wesseling recording the opening goal of the second half with the assist from Wehaus to increase the lead 2-0. The Knights recorded one more shot from Kuroda and two from
Gustavo Nunes before Wehaus recorded a brace with the an assist from Wesseling. Marian continued to push with a shot from Kuroda and Wesseling before Nunes increased the lead 4-0 with an unassisted goal. Nunes continued to dominate with a shot followed up with another goal with the assist of Wesseling to increase the lead once more. The Tigers recorded two shots but came up short both times to
Ricardo Marquez's efforts in goal. The Knights followed up with three shots from Nunes,
Rodolfo Batisti, and
Oliver Calculli while Zambrano recorded two.
Justin Kapp closed out the game with a goal and the assist from Zambrano to breeze by and take the 6-0 win.Â
In the win Marian out-shot Georgetown 24-2 with eight shots in the first half and 16 in the second.
Gustavo Nunes and
Samuel Wehaus led the Knights in goals with two each while
Justin Kapp recorded one and Josh Wessling recorded one. Wessling led the team in assists with two while
Joao Antonio Rocha,
Rafael Zambrano, and Wehaus each recorded one. Nunes led the team in shots with seven while four were on target and Zambrano recorded five with two on goal. Wehaus recorded four with all on target while
Kyohei Kuroda recorded three shots with two on target and Wesseling recorded two with one on target. Kapp,
Oliver Calculli, and
Rodolfo Batisti recorded one a piece with Kapp and Calculli's on target. In goal Mateo Garcia-Glan claimed his third win of the year gaining the start while
Ricardo Marquez came in as relief in the second half recording two saves.
Marian is back in action on Saturday, August 30th as they travel to Lima, Ohio to take on the University of Northwestern Ohio at 4:00 PM.
