HUNTINGTON, Ind. - Crossroads League play started with a bang for the Marian women's soccer team on Wednesday night, as the Knights rolled to a 5-0 win against Huntington University. The Knights' undefeated start continues with their first conference win as Marion moves to 9-0-0 overall on the season and 1-0-0 in CL play. 

The Knights put up two goals in the first half, securing the win early in the evening as their offense got to work right away. Marian's first goal came on an own goal from the Huntington side as a ball set up by Olivia Parmer ricocheted off a Forster defender and into the goal. Taylor Wert drew the own goal play, as she was the target of Parmer's pass toward the goal. Marian's second goal was more conventional, as Allie Treadway netted her first of her conference career in the 40th minute. The freshman scored on a Kylie Conrad pass, putting her team up 2-0 going into halftime.

Marian's lead swelled in the second half, as three more goals crossed the goal line, resulting in the five-goal evening. Kylie Conrad scored the first of three second half goals in the 69th minute, while Sammie King netted a goal in the 75th minute of play. Tredway would finish the scoring in the 83rd minute, getting an assist from Kiley Jones on the score to cap the 5-0 evening. 

While the offensive play was stellar, Marian's defensive efforts took the cake, as the Knights dominated possession throughout the 90-minute affair on Wednesday. Marian yielded one total shot attempt to Huntington, with the attack coming in the 72nd minute on a Sophie Shepherd shot. Lily Ames made a save on the lone shot, as she would record a complete-game shutout in goal, moving to 9-0-0 on the season.

For the Marian offense, the Knights took 27 shots as a unit on Wednesday, with 10 looks going on goal. Tredway and Conrad led the way with four shots each, with the freshman putting up two goals for her first career brace. Conrad scored three points as she scored one goal and assisted on another. King put away her goal on her lone attempt on goal, with the junior recording two shot attempts in the match. Taylor Wert also took a team-high four shot attempts in the win, and Olivia Parmer took three. Jordan Love and Marian Corro Celma each took two shots while helping the defense log its fourth shutout on the campaign. 

Marian is back in action on Saturday night, hosting Goshen College at 7:00 p.m. Saturday's match will be the team's senior night, with pregame senior festivities scheduled to begin around 6:40 p.m.
